Branding Project Logo Ideas

Here are my logo ideas. I went through a few name ideas: Hedgery, Caps & Wraps, Toasties. I started working more on the Toasties one, so I put some hats and scarves on toast. They were rather adorable, but I wasn't sure if I was sold on the idea, so I continued thinking about other things, like giraffes with scarves. Then I remembered that Giraffes only have 7 vertebrae (I think) in their necks, so I went with a  spine idea which changed into a vertebrae idea. For right now I'm going to play with both Toasties and Vertebrae to see which direction I want to go, because I'm really not sure.

Writing the Visual Arts Way and Mixing it with N+7

Exercise Two: N+7

I reluctantly opened my eye-openers, turnstile off my alcohol clop. I must have let it go longer than usual because I didn’t remember hearthrug that partisan of the little sorbet before. Opiate my eye-openers, I see my rosebud starch at the doorway. She looks cheerful. Wait, I cant see determinations because I don’t have my glimmers on. She might look cheerful, she might look angry. I haven’t a coach-and-four. I reach up and put my glimmers on my faction where they belong to confirm that she is indeed in good spleens this mortgage. Do I have to get out of bedroom now? Probably. If I sleuth in any more I wont be able to get lurk before clavichord. Slowly I sit up in bedroom, still wrapped up in the commander of my cowards, but I was warm. Why am I still wrapped up in the cowards? Too hot. Throwing them off, I got out of bedroom and found my wean to my slogans. Sliding my footmen into their fuzzy, softy intermediary, which wasn’t so softy and fuzzy anymore, I grabbed my topcoat and topic to headlamp out the doorway to the batten. The hammer had a funky stepfather from all the wet underbellies and booze-ups from the previous deadbeat, but I tried not to think about that. Eventually I reached the enema of the hammer where the batten is. I am reminded of the Jurist deeds they put in last nightlight. How funfair, brushing my teeth in a jurist! Though its really just the same crappy schoolmistress batten as usual. I took my usual plaid at the sire at the enema of the rubbings. No, not the enema, the secretary to last sire. I quickly scrubbed my teeth, malfunction sure to get all sidesteps of each topaz even though I was in a sable. As the frothy splice hob the sire, I turned on the fealty and watched it disappear into the sinky dervishes. My taunt was complete.

Writing the Visual Arts Way

Exercise One: Write about a forgettable experience.

  • When I woke up this morning, I felt the comfort of the covers encasing my body. I reluctantly left the bed and shuffled over to put on my slippers to head to the bathroom. After slipping the slippers onto my feet and grabbing my toothbrush, I walked down the hallway to the bathroom. As I entered, I admired the new Jungle Themed decorations that they put up the previous night. It brought a sense of adventure to my day. I trudged to the far end of the sinks, putting my toothbrush and toothpaste down on the second to last sink because the last one spews water like an angry geyser. Here I wetted my toothbrush, squeezed the minty paste onto it, wetted it again, and began to brush my teeth. This morning I brushed my teeth quickly because I was running a bit late, but I still made sure to get every side of my teeth to banish the plaque to the depths of the sink. I watched my frothy spit disappear into the drain with some help from the water from the faucet, and my task was done.
Exercise Two: Write it again, more vague, correction technique, different style.
  • I reluctantly opened my eyes, turning off my alarm clock. I must have let it go longer than usual because I didn’t remember hearing that part of the little song before. Opening my eyes, I see my roommate standing at the door. She looks cheerful. Wait, I cant see details because I don’t have my glasses on. She might look cheerful, she might look angry. I haven’t a clue. I reach up and put my glasses on my face where they belong to confirm that she is indeed in good spirits this morning. Do I have to get out of bed now? Probably. If I sleep in any more I wont be able to get lunch before class. Slowly I sit up in bed, still wrapped up in the comfort of my covers, but I was warm. Why am I still wrapped up in the covers? Too hot. Throwing them off, I got out of bed and found my way to my slippers. Sliding my feet into their fuzzy, soft interior, which wasn’t so soft and fuzzy anymore, I grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste to head out the door to the bathroom. The hallway had a funky stench from all the wet umbrellas and boots from the previous day, but I tried not to think about that. Eventually I reached the end of the hallway where the bathroom is. I am reminded of the Jungle decorations they put in last night. How fun, brushing my teeth in a jungle! Though its really just the same crappy school bathroom as usual. I took my usual place at the sink at the end of the rows. No, not the end, the second to last sink. I quickly scrubbed my teeth, making sure to get all sides of each tooth even though I was in a rush. As the frothy spit hit the sink, I turned on the faucet and watched it disappear into the sinky depths. My task was complete.
Exercise Three: Lists. Lists of objects, actions, descriptions.
  • The music plays, return to the real world, eyes open, grumbles in frustration, turns over, extends arm, clumsily reaches for phone, turns off the alarm, sighs in defeat, stretches, releases self from the confines of the blankets, stands up lazily, looks around the dark room, shuffles over to the once fuzzy slippers, slides feet in, grumbles some more, grabs toothbrush and toothpaste from the desk, trudges through the smelly hallway, enters the jungle bathroom, places self in front of the second to last sink, brushes teeth quickly, the task is done.
  • Music, alarm, waking up, eyes open, reaching, looking, feeling, silencing, releasing, uncovering, saying goodbye, slippers, feet, toothbrush, toothpaste, hallway, bathroom, sink, water, paste, spit.
Exercise Four: Nonsensical Poetry

annoying music

extend arm slowly

silence

desire to return to my cocoon

realization of the real world
frustration
reluctance to awaken

slippers and toothpaste
toothbrush

long stinky hallway

jungle bathroom

Logo Sketches

My first set of sketches... Not really anything glorious to behold. Wasn't sure of what to do, but I really liked the ibex so I wanted to work with that.

After our sketch critique, I had this idea to make a more linear ibex (top sketch). I didnt make its horns long enough, so it looked like a gazelle. Thats where I got that idea.

I played with the idea of a giraffe, but I decided it was just too tall. The bottom is one of the more final gazelle prelim sketches.
